Several well-known pump brands such as Tunze, Reef Octopus, and Abyzz come with external controllers that have a 0-10V port to connect to a third-party controller. With HYDROS, you can now easily access all the native flow modes and presets without any restrictions or complex programming.
What you will need to get started
- A HYDROS device with a 0-10V OUT port (WaveEngine, WaveEngine V2, Control X4)
- Pump compatible with 0-10v with 3.5mm adapter (if needed)
- HYDROS 0-10v adapter cable
TIP: The 0-10v cable has four different connectors.
- Black = Direct Output 1
- Brown = Direct Output 2
- Red = Direct Output 3
- Orange = Direct Output 4
Step 1: Connect the pump
Step 2: Create a pump on the HYDROS app
- Start the HYDROS app and go to the main menu. To do this, tap the three horizontal bars in the upper left-hand corner.
- Select OUTPUTS
- Tap on the + symbol at the bottom right
- Type the name of the pump and click on “CREATE.”
Step 3: Configure Your New Pump
- TYPE – Select “Flow Pump”
- PUMP MODEL – Select the model of your flow pump. In this case, select 0-10v Pump.
- SPEED RANGE – The flow control system for your pump, called MASTER, determines the maximum and minimum speeds at which the pump, REGARDLESS, operates and the pattern it follows.
TIP: Imagine this master control as a governor. If you set up a flow pattern that activates the pump within the 1-100% range, but the overall master flow is between 25-75%, the pump will run at 25% when set to 1% and at 75% when set to 100%.
- VOLTAGE RANGE – You can use this feature to adjust the HYDROS output voltage to align with the required voltage of your 0-10V. If your pump operates within a range of 2 to 3.5V, you can select this option to have complete control over your pump.
- 0-10V OUTPUT – It is the cable end you used to physically connect the pump to the HYDROS.
Step 4: Save your settings
- Tap the yellow bottom band to upload your changes to the cloud and the HYDROS.
Step 5: Add Pump to Schedule
Now that you have finished configuring the pump, you must assign the pump to a schedule to make it run!
- From the Status screen, tap on the main menu in the upper-left-hand corner and select Schedules.
- Select the Schedule you wish to attach to the pump and then add the pump to it.
If you do not have a Schedule, please create one. For instructions, refer to the “Schedule” section on the left (desktop version) or bottom (mobile version).
Rename Output & Change Icon
- From the STATUS screen, tap on the Output you wish to modify.
- On the popup, tap on the “Gear” icon on the bottom right.
- From the Output setup page, tap on the “Pencil” icon on the top left.
- Type in the new name you wish
- If you wish to change the default icon, tap “Change Icon.”
