Add 0-10V Input

The HYDROS Control offers a highly versatile feature called the 0-10V Inputs. These inputs enable you to add control information that the HYDROS Control can act on. You can add various types of 0-10V Inputs, including:

  1. Simple Analog – These are your simple run-of-the-mill sensors such as a magnetic float switch, a door magnetic sensor, buttons, and switches.
  2. Intricate Button boxes created by other hobbyists use one 0-10V channel and split it into a box with multiple switches and buttons. Check out all the different HYDROS accessories available at JBAquatics LLC.
TIP: The 0-10V Inputs play a crucial and flexible role in the HYDROS control system, and there is an entire forum dedicated to DIY enthusiasts worldwide. On the forum, you will find many helpful individuals who push the HYDROS to its limits and are always ready to assist you if you have any inquiries. MAGNETIC FLOAT SWITCH

To add a magnetic float switch to the HYDROS, you will need:

  • A 2-wire magnetic float switch. You can find many different options on Amazon or eBay.
  • A single 3.5mm Mono Female Jack to Bare Wire adapter. You can also find multiple options on Amazon or eBay.
  • HYDROS 0-10V Quad Cable

Step 1: Prepare the Magnet Float Switches

To connect the magnetic float switch, simply attach the two bare ends to the two ends of the 3.5mm Mono Female Jack. Make sure to use electrical tape to seal and protect any exposed wires from the elements.

Step 2: Connect the float switch to the HYDROS

Using the HYDROS 0-10V Quad Cable, connect the GX12 end to the 0-10V IN Port on your HYDROS device. Connect the float switch to one of the ends of the HYDROS Quad Cable. Remember the end color; you will need that later in the instructions!

Step 3: Create the Input

  1. From the STATUS screen, tap the three horizontal dots to the right of the INPUTS label.
  2. Select “Add New Input”
  3. Tap on the + symbol at the bottom right of the page
  4. Enter the name you wish to assign to your Input and tap “Create.”

Step 4: Configure the 0-10V Input

  1. Type: Select “0-10V Input”
  2. 0-10V Input Mode: Set it to “Switch.”
  3. 0-10V Input Port: Select the input number that matches the end of the 0-10V Quad Cable color you connected previously.
TIP: The 0-10v cable has four different connectors.

    • BLACK = 0-10V Input 1
    • BROWN = 0-10V Input 2
    • RED = 0-10V Input 3
    • ORANGE = 0-10V Input 4
  4. Voltage Range: Set this to “1 to 3V.”
  5. Data Type: Select “Water Level.”
  6. Wet When: Select “Inside Range.”
TIP: The method for determining your float switch design may vary. In the event that your float switch activates when the float is in a lowered position, choose “Outside Range.”
  7. Notification Level: Based on your previous selection of “INSIDE RANGE”, this option enables you to specify how the HYDROS should respond when the reading falls OUTSIDE of the range.
  8. Notify When: Please ensure that this value matches the “Wet When” option. This will trigger a notification when the sensor detects moisture. However, if you would like the alarm to activate when the sensor is dry, please set this value to OUTSIDE RANGE, which is the opposite of the “Wet When” option.
  9. Is Invisible: If you choose to hide the input from the status screen, it will only become visible on pages that have “Show Invisible” selected.

Step 5: Upload the Changes

After configuring the Input, tap the yellow bar at the bottom to upload your changes to the cloud and each HYDROS device.

Step 6: Test Your Float Switch

To test the sensor, take the float switch and move the magnet up manually. Check the Status screen on the controller to ensure that the sensor is displaying “Wet.” Next, lower the magnetic float and the controller should change the Input to “Dry.” If the sensor is not showing the correct readings, return to the 0-10V Input settings page and adjust the “Wet When” value accordingly.

MAGNETIC DOOR (REED) SWITCH

To add a magnetic door sensor to the HYDROS, you will need:

Step 1: Connect the Door Switch to the HYDROS

Using the HYDROS 0-10V Quad Cable, connect the GX12 end to the 0-10V IN Port on your HYDROS device. Connect the reed switch to one of the other four ends of the HYDROS Quad Cable. Remember the end color; you will need that later in the instructions!

Step 2: Install the Door Switches

When installing the door sensors, attach the wired sensor to the cabinet and the individual sensor piece to the door. It is important to keep a distance of at least one to two inches between the door magnets and sensors as magnets can cause interference.

Step 3: Create the Input

  1. From the STATUS screen, tap the three horizontal dots to the right of the INPUTS label.
  2. Select “Add New Input”
  3. Tap on the + symbol at the bottom right of the page
  4. Enter the name you wish to assign to your Input and tap “Create.”

Step 4: Configure the 0-10V Input

  1. Type: Select “0-10V Input”
  2. 0-10V Input Mode: Set it to “Switch.”
  3. 0-10V Input Port: Select the input number that matches the end of the 0-10V Quad Cable color you connected previously.
TIP: The 0-10v cable has four different connectors.

    • BLACK = 0-10V Input 1
    • BROWN = 0-10V Input 2
    • RED = 0-10V Input 3
    • ORANGE = 0-10V Input 4
  4. Voltage Range: Set this to “1 to 3V.”
  5. Data Type: Select “Closed/Open.”
  6. Open When: Select “Outside Range.”
TIP: The method might vary based on the type of reed switch you have acquired. In case the door sensor activates as “OPEN” while the magnets are in contact, switch the setting to “Inside Range.”
  7. Notification Level: If you chose “OUTSIDE RANGE” in the previous setting, this option enables you to instruct HYDROS on what to do when the reading is beyond the range. If you prefer not to receive a notification when the door opens or closes, leave this field as “None.”
  8. Notify When: To set the alarm to trigger when the magnets are separated or open, choose the opposite value of the “Open When” option. A notification will be prompted in this case. However, if you prefer the alarm to go off when the magnets are together or closed, set the value to OUTSIDE RANGE, the same as the “Open When” option.
  9. Is Invisible: If you choose to hide the input from the status screen, it will only become visible on pages that have “Show Invisible” selected.

Step 5: Upload the Changes

After configuring the Input, tap the yellow bar at the bottom to upload your changes to the cloud and each HYDROS device.

Step 6: Test Your Door Switch

To test the door sensor, manually open the door to move the two sensors apart. Check the Status screen on the controller, which should show the sensor as “Open”. When you close the door, the sensors should come together and the controller should update the Input to show “Closed”. If the sensor shows a different status, return to the 0-10V Input settings page and adjust the “Open When” value.

Rename Input & Change Icon

  • From the STATUS screen, tap on the Input you wish to modify.
  • On the popup, tap on the “Gear” icon on the bottom right.
  • From the Input setup page, tap on the “Pencil” icon on the top left.
  • Type in the new name you wish
  • If you wish to change the default icon, please tap on “Change Icon.”
