Activate Feeding Mode

Sometimes, one may want to allow the WaveEngine to control the flow pumps in our tank, but simultaneously, have a 3rd party controller tell the WaveEngine to start Feeding Mode.

It brings the best of both worlds into one.  Allow the WaveEngine to do what it does best while triggering modes such as Feeding or Water Change with a click of a SINGLE button.

What you will need to get started

  • 3rd party controller with an available 0-10V port (Ethernet) and the latest firmware installed
  • HYDROS APX Link Cable

Step 1: Connecting the APX Link Cable

  • Using the APX Link Cable GX-12 connector end, attach it to the WaveEngine’s 0-10V IN port.
  • Connect the other end of the APX Link Cable (ethernet) to one of your APEX VS Ports.
TIP: The APX Link Cable has two Ethernet connectors.  When programming the WaveEngine, select one of the two Input Ports based on the cable end attached to your APEX controller.

  • WHITE: 0-10V Input 1 & 2
  • BLACK: 0-10V Input 3 & 4

If you inserted the BLACK end to the APEX VS1/2 port, then on the WaveEngine, you must use 0-10V Input 3 or 4.  If you connect the BLACK end to the APEX VS3/4 port, you must still select 0-10V Inputs 3 or 4 on the WaveEngine.

If you inserted the WHITE end to the APEX VS1/2 port, then on the WaveEngine, you must use 0-10V Input 1 or 2.  If you connect the WHITE end to the APEX VS3/4 port, you must still select 0-10V Inputs 1 or 2 on the WaveEngine.

Step 2: Configure your APEX

  • Go into your APEX Fusion interface and select the VS port based on the physical port where you connected the APX Link Cable to the APEX.
  • Click on the “Gear” icon to the right of the name to enter the “Output Configuration” screen.
  • Under CONTROL TYPE, select “Advanced.”
  • Enter the following:
    Set 0
    
If FeedA 000 Then 20
    The 20 is the voltage number you want the VS port to send out when FeedA is activated.

Step 3: Configure the WaveEngine

  • Start the HYDROS App and go into the OPTIONS screen.
  • Change MODE CONTROL INPUT to the 0-10V Input you are using based on how you connected the APX Link Cable to your APEX.  (See the TIP Box above)
  • Go into the MODES screen and tap on FEEDING.
  • Set the mode’s INPUT VOLTAGE to two (2).
TIP: Select an LED COLOR in the mode configuration screen, and the WaveEngine will display it while the Feeding Mode is active!

Step 4: Save your configuration

  • Tap on the yellow bottom band to upload your changes to the cloud and the WaveEngine.

Now you can activate your Feeding Mode on your APEX.  It will send a 20-volt signal to the WaveEngine.  After matching the voltage to the Feeding Mode, the WaveEngine will activate it.
