Add Temperature Sensor

Monitoring your tank’s temperature is vital for your inhabitants to thrive and stay happy. A temperature sensor can assist you in keeping an eye on the temperature and ensuring it stays at the appropriate level.

Step 1: Physically Connect the Sensor

1. Connect the Temperature Sensor to your Control unit’s Sense Port (GREEN).
2. It is important to securely position the temperature sensor in your aquarium so that it doesn’t get dislodged and end up drying above water.

Step 2: Create the INPUT Sensor

1. From the STATUS screen, tap the three horizontal dots to the right of the INPUTS label.
2. Select “Add New Input”
3. Tap on the + symbol in the bottom-right corner
4. Enter the name you wish to assign to your input and tap “Create.”

Step 3: Configure INPUT Sensor

• Type: Select Sense Port
• Sense Mode: Select Temperature Probe
• Sense Port: Select the port number where you physically connected the temperature sensor
• Safe Range Low: This temperature represents the minimum threshold. Whenever the temperature falls below this level, the status screen’s INPUT icon will turn RED. If notifications are enabled, the controller will send one out. It is important to note that this temperature is not the same as the low temperature at which your heater turns on. Set this temperature slightly lower.
  
  TIP: Set this to a lower temperature than your heater’s ON temperature. If your tank temperature is between 78 and 79 degrees, set this level to 77.5.
• Safe Range High: This temperature represents your maximum threshold. Please note that if the temperature exceeds this threshold, the INPUT icon on the status screen will turn red. If notifications are enabled, you will receive an alert. It’s important to keep in mind that this temperature is not the same as the high temperature that triggers the heater to turn off. Instead, it’s recommended to set this temperature slightly higher.
  
  TIP: Set this to a higher temperature than your heater’s OFF temperature. If you keep your tank temperature between 78 and 79 degrees, set this to 82 degrees.
• Graph Value Limits: It allows you to set the maximum and minimum values displayed under the Graphs view.
• Offset: In this section, you can adjust the temperature reading by either increasing or decreasing it to align with a different thermometer or temperature sensor installed in your system. 
• Notification Level: This option allows you to specify what notification level you would like to receive. You will receive notifications when
  • Temperature is below Safe Range Low
  • Temperature is above Safe Rage High
  • Control has lost connection to the sensor
• Is Invisible: If you choose to hide the input from the status screen, it will only become visible on pages that have “Show Invisible” selected.

Step 4: Upload Changes

Once you have configured your Temperature INPUT, tap the yellow bar at the bottom of the screen to upload your changes to the cloud and the individual HYDROS devices.
