The Kalkwasser Rector is a convenient way to replenish the alkalinity and calcium levels in your aquarium automatically. It also helps maintain your tank’s pH levels.
Here is what you’ll need to get started:
- Kalkwasser unit with stirrer connected to a HYDROS device with a drive (orange) port or AC outlet.
- The feed pump is connected to a HYDROS device with a drive (orange) port or AC outlet.
Things to remember about the Kalkwasser preset:
- The feeding pump will stop running when the stirring magnet is activated. This is already programmed into the preset logic.
- If you wish to delay the feeding pump start after the stirring magnet stops, adjust the “Minimum Off Time” in the Advanced Settings section.
Step 1: Create the Kalkwasser Reactor Output
- From the STATUS screen on your HYDROS app, top on the three horizontal dots to the right of the OUTPUTS label and select “Add / Edit Output.”
- Tap on the “+” symbol at the bottom right of the page.
- Type in the name of your new output and then tap “Create.”
Step 2: Configure your Kalkwasser Reactor
- Family: Reactors
- Type: Kalk Reactor
- Pump Output Device: Here, you select the location of your feeding pump, which pushes fresh water into your Kalkwasser Reactor.
TIP: HYDROS will automatically stop the pump when the stirrer is ON- Pump Power Safe Range: It allows you to specify a power use range considered “acceptable.” If power consumption is outside the range, a notification will trigger if selected.
WARNING: This option is NOT available if the “Pump Output Device” is assigned to an outlet that cannot monitor power, such as a WiFi Strip outlet. - Pump Power Notification Level: You can select the notification level that triggers if the power consumption falls outside the “Power Safe Range.”
WARNING: This option is unavailable if the “Output Device” is assigned to a device that does not support power monitoring on its outlets. - If Input/Depends On Unavailable: This option allows you to specify what the controller will do if an input it uses becomes unavailable.
- Enable Advanced Settings: If you are an expert, you can customize the default output settings to suit your system better.
- If Input Unavailable: This allows you to specify how the outlet should act if the sensor is not found or is missing.
- Minimum OFF Time: Allows you to specify what is the minimum time the outlet should be OFF
- Maximum OFF Time: Allows you to specify what is the maximum time the outlet should be OFF
- Minimum ON Time: Allows you to specify what is the minimum time the outlet should be ON
- Maximum ON Time: Allows you to specify what is the maximum time the outlet should be ON
- Run Past Max ON time: This allows you to specify if you want the outlet to remain ON even if the “Max ON Time” has been exceeded.
- Notification Level: Allows you to specify the level of notification you want when any of the advanced settings have been exceeded
TIP: You will get notifications when one or more advanced settings have been exceeded. If you set the Notification Level to NONE, then the particular outlet you configured will not send you any notifications.
- Pump Power Safe Range: It allows you to specify a power use range considered “acceptable.” If power consumption is outside the range, a notification will trigger if selected.
- Pump Schedule: You can create a simple schedule to run the pump.
- Start Time: This is the time you want the Feed Pump to power ON
TIP: If you want the pump to run 24/7, then set this to 00:00:00 - End Time: This is the time you wish the Feed Pump to power OFF
TIP: If you want the pump to run 24/7, then set this to 00:00:00 - Run Count (0 = no limit): The number of times the pump will activate within the Start/End times.
- Run Interval (How often): The time difference (how long) between each pump start repeat within the Start/End times range.

- Start Time: This is the time you want the Feed Pump to power ON
- Tank pH Input: Here, you choose the location for the pH probe that measures the water pH in your aquarium.
- Tank pH ON/OFF Point: This option lets you choose the lowest and highest point before the Control turns ON/OFF your Feeding Pump.
- Tank Alkalinity Input: If you have an Alkalinity Monitoring Device connected to the Control, you can select it here.
- Tank Alkalinity ON/OFF Point: This option will enable you to choose a range for the Control to turn ON/OFF your Feeding Pump
- Stirrer Output Device: Here, you choose the location of your stirring motor.
- Stirrer Power Safe Range: It allows you to specify a power use range considered “acceptable.” If power consumption is outside the range, a notification will trigger if selected.
WARNING: This option is NOT available if the “Stirrer Output Device” is assigned to an outlet that cannot monitor power, such as a WiFi Strip outlet. - Stirrer Power Notification Level: You can select the notification level that triggers if the power consumption falls outside the “Power Safe Range.”
