Add Flow Pump (0-10V)

Many popular pump brands like Tunze, Reef Octopus, and Abyzz have external controllers with a 0-10V port for connecting to a third-party controller. With HYDROS, you can now effortlessly access all the native flow modes and presets without restrictions or complex programming.

What you will need to get started

• A HYDROS device with a 0-10V OUT port (WaveEngine, WaveEngine V2, Control X4)
• Pump compatible with 0-10v with 3.5mm adapter (if needed)
• HYDROS 0-10v adapter cable ^[1]

Step 1: Connect the pump

• Connect and install your pump as instructed by the pump’s manufacturer.
• Find the 0-10v connection port on your pump’s controller and connect one of the four ends of the HYDROS 0-10v Adapter Cable.
  
  TIP: If the input jack of your pump is not a 3.5mm stereo jack, please contact us below to inquire about a special adapter for your pump’s connection jack.
• Connect the HYDROS 0-10v Adapter Cable to the 0-10v OUTPUT on your HYDROS.

Step 2: Create a pump on the HYDROS app

• Start the HYDROS app and go to the main menu. Tap the three horizontal bars in the upper left-hand corner to do this.
• Select OUTPUTS
• Tap on the “+” symbol at the bottom right.
• Type the name of the pump and click on “CREATE.”

Step 3: Configure Your New Pump

• Family: Variable Pumps
• Type: 0-10 Volt Pump
• Output Device: Select the 0-10V Channel connected to the native pump controller. 
• Runs Constantly: This option allows you to run the pump at a “Constant” speed quickly and conveniently without creating a separate Flow Schedule.
  • Constant Speed: This option allows you to set the continuous speed level, but it is only available if you enable “Run Constantly.”
  • Used In Schedule: This is a list of all external Flow Schedules used by this Variable Pump. This list displays only when “Run Constantly” is disabled. 
• Speed Limit: This is the master flow limit that governs your pump’s maximum and minimum speed, regardless of its pattern.
  
  TIP: Consider the speed limit a governor. When you set up a “Flow Schedule” that operates at 1% to 100% intensity, but the pump’s speed range is limited between 25% and 75%, then 1% on the “Flow Schedule” corresponds to the pump operating at 25%. Similarly, 100% on the “Flow Schedule” means the pump physically runs at 75%. Simply put, the “Flow Schedule” speed range falls within the speed limit here.
• Voltage Range: You can use this feature to adjust the HYDROS output voltage to align with the required voltage of your 0-10V device. If your pump operates within a range of 0 to 6.5V, you can select this option to have complete control over your pump.
• Is Invisible: If you choose to hide the output from the status screen, it will only become visible on pages that have “Show Invisible” selected.

Step 4: Save your settings

• After configuring the output, tap the yellow bar at the bottom to upload your changes to the cloud and each HYDROS device.

Step 5: Add Pump to Schedule

After defining the pump, you can instruct the controller on its operation. For instructions, please refer to the “Add Flow Pump Schedule” option on the left menu.
